Having a deck is a great addition to your home. It can be a great space for you to have picnics and BBQ’s, or just be a great place to sit down, relax, and enjoy the sunshine. But we all know how tough the weather can get around here sometimes, and that you need to put a little TLC into your house to help get it through. So here is the way to get your deck ready for summer, and keep it healthy through all of the seasons that it has to face.

Clean it off and inspect it

This is step number one. In order to make sure it is ready to go for the summer season, sweep off all of the dirt and leaves that are sure to have accumulated on it over the winter and spring. You will probably have to remove all of the furniture that you have on it to. You can use a power washer or good mop and broom to get the stains off. From there, check for splinters and loose nails that may have popped up from warping.

Test then apply a sealer

Sealer is important for the survival of your deck. It ensures that it is protected from the elements at all times and prolongs its life. The easiest test is to splash water on it. If it beads up, then you are protected, but if it soaks in then you need to put another coat on. Buy a good sealant and apply it to your deck like you would a coat of paint. It’ll do wonders, and doesn’t take that long.

Get some good summer furniture

What is a deck for if not for lounging? Grab a few good teak loungers with cushions, get a decent BBQ, and have a great time in the sun.

Having a deck is a great way to add a little fun to summer. It’s a great place to chill out, cook, and enjoy the sun. But you need to make sure that your deck is ready to fight back against the rays and rain. Clean it off, inspect it, seal it and equip it with what it needs to look great and last a long time.
